Here is the blunt truth about what is happening to NoiseWrap.

We already had to withdraw from the US market because tariffs, import fees, and shipping costs made individual orders economically pointless. Sending a simple business envelope could cost around €25 before additional taxes and postage.

Now we are facing the similar problem in the EU.

From 12 August 2026, the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requires businesses shipping packaged products to register, report packaging volumes, pay annual fees of €100 or more in every country they ship to, appoint an agent, and submit monthly reports.

For EU-wide sales, that potentially means dealing with more than 25 separate countries, registrations, fees, agents, and reporting systems.

Frankly, this is not a realistic compliance model for a micro-business. The time, administration, and expense involved would exceed the revenue generated by those orders at least tenfold. We have therefore temporarily suspended shipping to EU countries.

NoiseWrap supports responsible packaging and environmental protection. That is not the issue. The issue is a fixed-cost system that treats a tiny independent maker as though it has the resources and administrative capacity of a large international company.

Losing access first to the US and now to the EU is a serious blow, not just to NoiseWrap, but to all small businesses and individuals that ship anything anywhere.

If these requirements do not become more proportionate, we may have no practical choice but to move towards digital products—or reconsider the future of NoiseWrap entirely.

For now, we will continue shipping to the handful of markets where doing so remains realistically possible.
